There are some steps you need to take before applying your epoxy coating to your garage flooring. You will want to spray water on the flooring to find out if there is a seal already existing. If the water soaks in then you don’t have a seal coating. If the water does pull away you will need to degrease your floor with degreaser and wash away the problem areas.

The next step will involve acid so you will want to make sure that you have the proper rubber gloves and goggles for safety. You will then want to add one container of acid to a two-gallon jug of water to dilute the solution. The most efficient jug to use for this project is a plastic sprinkling water can. You can get one of these jugs at your local lowes or home depot.

Make sure your floor is damp before you start sprinkling the acid solution to your garage flooring. Once you’ve completed these first steps and washed away all chemicals away you will need to wet vacuum your flooring. You are now set up to start your epoxy process.
